I am trying to …

I am trying to – and I believe that I am – a good doctor. A doctor does not just diagnose a disease. That is the least; he has to do that, but it is the least of what he does. He is also concerned with the impact of the disease on the person, their experience of it, and how they might adapt or respond to treatment. So there is a strong individual story to be said for everyone with a disease or an injury. (To be a good doctor) you must expand the notion of medicine. Oliver Sacks, MD
